Singapore treats

How many of you dislike looking at pictures of food on blogs? It's okay, you can be honest. I know of people who absolutely hate it because they feel it serves no purpose other than to make them extremely hungry and if the dish is unavailable where they live, they get even more annoyed.

I used to be one of those people, but I've learned to appreciate well-taken food pics. If done right, the pictures can turn out really good. I now really enjoy looking at food pics, but only if they are bright, clear and taken from a good angle. I especially love looking at pictures of desserts because they look so colourful and cute!

I, myself, have also started to take pictures of the food I eat and find that it's quite an enjoyable process. I am still learning, but I like sharing my food pics on iPhone apps like Instagram, Platter or Foodspotting.

Anywayz, the food pics below were taken during my last trip in Singapore. I have been to Singapore n times, so obviously I didn't take any tourist-y pics. However, if you guys are interested, I'll try to remember to snap some the next time I go.

Instagram Images 006

Yes, yes, I know. The Instagram Images series initially started on my blog as a weekly thing, then I decided to change it to a monthly thing and here I'm turning it bi-weekly. I'm so fickle because I'm a woman. Yesh.

I spent one lunch hour browsing the aisles of Guardian, testing out foundations, lipsticks and reading labels. Ended up getting some Biore Cleansing Oil Cotton Sheets refills, a Revlon Lip Butter (finally!), a Maybelline BB White and the limited edition My Beauty Diary x Hello Kitty facial masks.

I wanted to buy more stuff, but I didn't have enough cash with me. Bother.

My colleagues and boss brought me to a vegetarian place for lunch and my boss recommended the char siew (roasted pork) noodles. You must be wondering what kind of vegetarian place sells char siew, right? Well, see those pieces of char siew? Made entirely out of beancurd! Looks pretty much like char siew, but tastes nothing like it hahaha

Malaysia's 3 layer tea. Tea on top, evaporated milk in the middle and palm sugar at the bottom.

Famous beef noodles at Petaling Street. Haven't been to Petaling Street (KL Chinatown) in like 6, 7 years. Can't say I miss that place, even though it's also well-known for its plethora of good food in that area. Don't like how claustrophobic it is. It's a popular shopping street for tourists, but I really don't know how they shop there. I much prefer the usual pasar malam (night markets).

Went for tea with a friend and ordered a Creme Brulee cheesecake. Heavenly!!

Sweet and spicy crabs.

I know most of my instagram images consist of food, but I can't help it because Malaysia truly is a food haven. Also, I've been away for so long, so I really have to have a taste of everything. However, besides our cuisine, we do have world-famous architectures like our Petronas Twin Towers #promo

Finally, got to watch The Hunger Games. Though not a new concept, I really enjoyed the movie. I'm going to try and get my hands on the books. Books are so frigging expensive here, though! Arghhh seriously, books cost like less than a fiver in the UK. And if I get books from charity shops like Oxfam, I just have to pay like a quid or something. Madness!

I know that the PM admitted to being addicted to Angry Birds (God only knows where he finds the time considering he has to, you know, run the country), but I didn't know he was on Platter, too. Of course it's not really him, but I found it amusing all the same.

I have picked and emailed the winners for the Ceebeery giveaway.
Congratulations to

Sexy Look Hello Kitty Mask review

So I got these Hello Kitty facial sheet masks by Sexy Look (what a brand name, I know) when I was in Hong Kong over the Christmas holidays. I have finally used up both boxes of masks and can now finally review them.

How I use it:
1) Cleanse face
2) Apply sheet mask for 15-20 minutes
3) Remove sheet mask
4) Gently massage the remaining essence on my face until fully absorbed
5) Apply moisturiser to seal in the essence
6) Use the sheet mask to give my arms and legs a wipe

Rose mask for Whitening and Moisturizing

Hyaluronic Acid mask for Whitening and Moisturizing

To be very honest, I didn't see a difference between both masks, so I've lumped the review together.

Adorable packaging! Haha...okay, that wasn't really important.

It's quite moisturising and hydrates my skin quite well, if only temporarily.

After removing the mask, I massage the leftover essence into my skin and it absorbs pretty quickly and doesn't leave a sticky feeling.

No break outs.

I am not sure about the brightening effects. The immediate effects are definitely not as obvious as other masks I have used.

The mask is extremely wet, like literally dripping wet, so the essence actually drips when I have it on my face and can be quite messy.

I don't like the scent of these masks. I don't really know how to describe it, but it smells like grocery-store bar soap.

How cute are the Hello Kitty diagrams?

Overall, I'm not a fan of these masks. Sure, they are uber cute and I'm a total sucker for cute packaging, but I wouldn't be purchasing these again. I don't think I saw any difference in my skin after using up all the masks (each box actually has 5 sheet masks, but I gave 2 away).

Win ZALORA's Outfit Makeover Contest [CLOSED]

To my fellow Malaysians, do you want to win an outfit makeover contest with me? Read on!

Zalora is organizing an outfit makeover contest in conjuction with their website's grand launch. That's right, a makeover! Think tons and tons of pretty clothes and playing dress up like Barbie! I so desperately want to, no, need to win this. If I win, I get to bring one of you (yes you, dear reader) along with me:

1st Prize
RM1500 worth of makeover for me + RM1500 worth of makeover for my reader.

2nd Prize:
RM1000 worth of makeover for me + RM1000 worth of makeover for my reader.

3rd Prize:
RM500 worth of makeover for me + RM 500 worth of makeover for my reader.

There are so many things I covet on the Zalora website that it'd take me forever to list. However, if given a budget of RM1500, I would maximise it by selecting a few items that I can mix and match in order to create several style coordinates for different occassions. I have decided to built some coordinates around the same Pastel Pink Stripey Mini Dress.

Outfit 1 For work
For work, I'd throw on a blazer for professionalism and carry an easy to match mushroom-coloured bag. I chose those pink heels because they compliment the dress nicely and gives the whole outfit a bright pop of colour.

Outfit 2 For a date
If I have a lunch or dinner date, I'll just remove my blazer and wear the dress as a top by pulling on that asymmetrical layered skirt. I'd also wear some accessories with roses and pearls to get that girly, romantic feel.

Outfit 3 For a night out
If I have a party to attend, all I have to do is change my accessories, put on some bling and I'm ready to go!

Total = RM1434.50

[Pic credit: All items available on]

As most of you know, I have only very recently returned from the UK and have left behind or donated a lot of my clothes because nearly all of them were unsuitable for our Malaysian weather. So my cupboard is pretty bare at the moment because I only shopped just that once the entire time I was job-hunting (read, penniless jobseeker). That coupled with the hot and humid weather, I have mostly been lazily resorting to every Malaysian's favourite style coordinate; T-shirts, shorts and flip flops. I am actually finding it hard to plan outfits that don't need layering, hence the lack of outfit posts on this blog as of late. I am rather worried this blog will eventually be about everything except everyday outfits :(

I want to win this makeover because I hope to be able to get some new pieces that will help me be trendy, yet remain cool (punny?). As most pieces on are selected with Malaysian consumers in mind, I hope Zalora will be able to restore my creativity in dressing up, but with items suited to our weather.

If I win, I'll pick one of you to join the makeover with me!
All you have to do is leave a comment below on why you deserve to win it with me, as creatively as you can, in less than 10 words.
Open to Malaysians only.

Deadline: 7th April

Instagram images 005

From now on, my Instagram Images series will be a monthly thing instead. Once a week is too much image spam, in my opinion.

Yay, special edition Pocky flavours by Mart fashion magazine; Fromage and Strawberry with white chocolate. These tasted really good, but they're pretty expensive, much more than the usual Pocky.

All the Hello Panda biscuits
They were having a deal, so I got 2 large boxes. I think I'm now a little sick of Hello Panda biscuits. Why do I always do this to myselfffff?

Hello Kitty chocolate kit
I was a bit blinded by the cuteness of this. I can't wait to use it, though. Honestly, I've never really liked Hello Kitty until recently. Is this a sign of not wanting to grow old?

Chicken curry noodles

Green tea ice cream with red bean paste and waffles

Pearl milk tea
I think this is a pretty clever way of serving cold drinks instead of filling up the entire glass with ice (which is what some unscrupulous restaurants do in order to serve less beverage). This way, my drink doesn't get too diluted even if all the ice in the glass melts away.

My new Stitch iphone case
Hi! I'm 10 years old
